Light Jet or Heavy Jet? Choosing the Right Aircraft

How to choose a private jet category by passengers, distance, baggage and comfort. Light, midsize, heavy and ultra long range compared.

Start with distance

On routes under 2-3 hours, light and super light jets are usually the most efficient choice. On short hops like Istanbul-Bodrum or Istanbul-Athens, the extra comfort of a larger cabin rarely justifies the cost difference.

Passengers and baggage

Baggage volume matters as much as seats. Golf bags, ski equipment or long-holiday luggage can require the next category up for the same group size.

Comfort expectations

From midsize upwards you can stand in the cabin. Heavy jets offer separate lounge areas and a full galley; ultra long range aircraft may include a bedroom and shower. On overnight flights the difference is decisive.

In short

Light jets for short trips with small groups; midsize or super midsize for Europe and the Middle East; heavy and ultra long range for intercontinental flights. Our fleet page lists the capacity and range of each category.
